:ouroboros

Definition

The Ouroboros is a simulation of the Greater Dream, hosted on ARGOS(C) servers, accessible through digitization or Oculus devices. As it is a simulation of the Greater Dream, it hosts the memories of each digitized consciousness — in its traversable space, stored memories and consciousnesses appear as roaming spectres.

Due to his direct connection to the Omen, Adrian is flooded with foreign memories and esoteric knowledge. He orders that the cycle of the Greater Dream be simulated, and provides ARGOS(C) engineers with a secondary connection to the Omen — for knowledge — and a means by which to understand and create technology which may not have existed for centuries otherwise. Hyperlight, harnessed.

The Greater Dream

One of the few discovered structures of pure hyperlight, its form likened to a snake consuming its tail. The cycle is secured by a single concentrated hyperlight spike, lancing through its head and tail. The only shared knowledge about the Greater Dream is that it is the pseudo-psychic support structure for the cycle of life, death, and rebirth shared by all living things.

Accessible directly only via dreams and hallucination. Accessible indirectly via simulation through the Ouroboros.

No documented rive has ever opened directly into the Greater Dream.

Company policy dictates that the deepest secrets must live and die with the vessel(s) of the Omen's knowledge and transference, so it is likely that the mysterious nature and existence/nonexistence of the Greater Dream will remain unknown forever.

Oculus

A means to enter the Ouroboros simulation while maintaining hyperlight-shielded physicality. The technology — enabling simulation and traversal of hyperlight structures while maintaining third-dimension physicality — should not be possible for humans this early in their civilizational development. Humanity doesn’t even register on the Kardashev Scale, and have been given borrowed Type III knowledge.
