??? -> ??? BC

The Omen is formed through the collective belief of a whole solar system of devout. Growing in power, it surrounds its home system in a hyperlight aurora and completes its first Eclosion. System-wide rapture and dissolution occurs, and its physicality is sustained — the hungry god feeds and moves to the next. It roams through space, luring and consuming systems and planets at a time to maintain its existence and physicality.

~200 AD

The Omen arrives in the Sol system and begins its observation of humanity. It starves itself for millennia as it studies, and its power wanes in its hunger.

~1400 AD

First contact. The Omen uses hyperlight transference to assimilate the body of an ancient worm into its control, parasitizing belief, sinking its lures into surrounding village settlements, naming itself Ialdabaoth. Nearly all villagers fall under the lure’s pull and begin to worship the worm, forsaking their belief in the mountain god Parochus and defacing its body into an ‘altar rock’ dedicated to worship and sacrifice to the worm god.

The first human capable of sensing and channeling hyperlight, an unnamed paladin, travels across the North Atlantic and destroys the assimilated body, weakening the Omen through its transference connection. It raptures half of its lured devout immediately to sustain itself, and drives the rest to quicken their ritual sacrifice.

~1575 AD

English settlers attempt to form a colony in West Virginia. The Omen sees easy prey, and sinks its lures. Rapture occurs swiftly, and little trace of the settlers is left.

After its small feast, it retreats behind the moon to begin further observation as humanity progresses quicker.

1922 AD

ARGOS(C) Corporation is founded by Adrian and Sam Abas. The company expands its operations quickly, and within a few years score multiple three-letter government contracts for research and development of new technologies.

~1950 AD

Second contact, just after WWII. Telepathic lures are sunk in the antebellum US, and many who were touched by its telepathy immediately fall into its lure, raptured within moments of contact. Others are able to resist the mental pull, one of whom is Adrian Abas. Due to his power and influence, as CEO and co-founder of ARGOS(C) Corporation, the Omen strengthens its lure in him. Adrian, lured by promise of immortality and power, surrenders his body to become a channel of the egregore’s will through hyperlight transference.

The promise was not empty — Abas, suffuse with hyperlight, ceases to age and is flooded with both knowledge and a manic drive to evolve. ARGOS(C) silently splits in three: The Research Division Triad, composed of PHOBOS Ontology, DEIMOS Technical, and HYPERION Memetics.

Operations quickly become more expansive and secretive than state operations, bypassing three-letter organizations like the CIA and the FBI while remaining completely invisible behind a facade of psychological research and trend analysis.

~1999 AD

Amidst the clamor of the turn of the century and the introduction of a new millennia, ARGOS(C) launches the Sleep Lucidity Program ( SLP ). Due to the Omen’s memetic influence, the SLP was highly popular and the sample size was incredibly vast, resulting in tens of thousands of digitized consciousnesses stored in the main ARGOS(C) campus — and tens of thousands of overdosed corpses under its foundation — after only a few years of operation.

The Omen feeds slowly on the braindead. The subterranean morgue never fills.

~2019 AD

The Omen begins another Eclosion, extending a hyperlight aurora around the Earth and it’s moon. Reality collapses into Subreality, and Subreality collapses into Illusion. Humanity, lost in Illusion, is only aware of the transformation by strange feelings of time loss.

ARGOS(C) and its Research Division Triad see all communication with the Omen drop silent as the transformation completes, but begin to notice — due to their increased knowledge and advanced technology — anomalous entities and phenomena bleeding into relative space. The only connection left open by Omen is an undetectable remnant of its power left in Adrian, and the knowledge already bestowed.

Thus begins ARGOS(C)’s era of anomalous research — between the years 2019 and 2401, ARGOS(C) works consistently to study, document, and contain anomalies.

Sam Abas disappears in a containment room sometime in 2030 and is not seen again.

~2402 AD

Adrian — the only surviving member of the original ARGOS(C) staff, vitality maintained by the remnant of the Omen’s power — is one of the few aboard the Thereafter Fleet, bound for a colony being established on Enceladus.

~2472 AD

Overworld is launched as humanity retreats underground. The Earth is heating up rapidly, ozone layer eroded by industrialization and hyperlight magnification. Those left behind fend for themselves in the last century of humanity’s tenancy on Earth.

In the early 2400s, Adrian — the only surviving member of the original ARGOS(C) staff, vitality maintained by the remnant of the Omen’s power — is one of the few aboard the Thereafter Fleet, a fleet of monolithic spaceships bound for a colony being established on Enceladus. Humanity fends for itself, in its last moments.

~2577 AD

The Earth is raptured. The sole echoes of humanity on planet Earth are stored in A-CORP facilities, preserved in Ouroboros simulation like insects trapped in amber — or within crowded Overworld servers, awaiting an escape which will never come.

The hungering god feeds, and moves on to the next.

The Earth rebuilds herself in humanity's absence, her parasites removed.

???? -> ???? AD

Synthetic food and ice-welled water only serve to prolong the inevitable — all those who escaped Earth’s rapture are still doomed to spend eternity alone on the moons. After a short time, terraforming infrastructure begins to break down, dropping temperatures in the colonies to nearly -200C.

As Adrian receives a final automated notice about colonist flatline, the cold reality of his immortality settles into his skin: he is the last human in the barren Sol system. The Thereafter Colonies on Enceladus and Titan are coffins iced shut, grave remnants of Terran civilization isolated millions of kilometers from its home-world — Saturn’s moons, silent pallbearers.

They are forgotten under 700 meters of lunar snow, swallowed whole by the devouring white. The bodies within do not decompose.
